Every year, Emerald Park has a Coin Drive in May which really helps our school with the rising costs of field trip transportation.
Way to go on the Copper and Silver Drive EP Families! A total of $1,158.91 was donated during this year's drive. Many thanks to everyone who was able to contribute!
Mr. Martin's class was definitely "attacked!" Even though his class had the most pennies, Ms. Carter's class was the winner of the classroom competition this year. (Value of pennies minus the value of the silver coins is the winner.) Those students won an ice cream party. Which class will you "attack" next year?
Even though we have fun making it a class competition, please know that all donations are really appreciated!! Thank you!
How the Coin Drive works
Each class will have a jug for coins. Pennies (copper) count for your own class, and silver coins go to other classrooms to count against them.
At the end of the week, the money is counted (penny value minus the silver value = classroom total), and the class with the highest total wins an ice cream treat party.
In May 2011, Ms. Reiners' class was the clear winner of the classroom competition and those students won an ice cream treat party. (Penny Value minus the Silver value = Ice Cream Treats!)
The PTSA sponsors the Copper & Silver Drive, with pennies counting toward the classroom total and silver coins counting against the classroom total.
Thank you, Sound Credit Union!
The Emerald Park PTSA really appreciates Sound Credit Union's help with processing all the coins.
